The Galloping Goose- Staying Fit Outdoors

Some great ways to make use of this big outdoor gym also known as the Galloping Goose Trail



It's New Year resolution time again, which means the gyms are busier than ever.  Although I am thrilled to see people get motivated it can be a little frustrating for the year round athletes and lifters like myself to fight our way to the equipment for people that will likley be gone in a few weeks not to return again until next January.  

This is a great time to take advantage of some of the amazing outdoor amenities that we have at our doorstep in Victoria.  

The Galloping Goose is a great tool to use to break free from the gym.  Whether it is biking, roller blading, running or just walking this great trail provides a good distance and serene setting for long workouts.  Or you can stay in close to downtown.  

My favorite Goose work out consists of a 5km run that brings me right below the Bay Street bridge.  This is a great spot with a huge, steep staircase.  I challenge myself to 4 sets of 3 stair sprints.  It's a great way to finish off a cardio session with a little metabolic boost.  

So get outside this week.  With temperature well above freezing it's a great time to get some fresh air.
